ABOUT ME

statement

In the late 20th century my body emerged from the hills between the city and country. My work begins with this body and how it relates to other bodies—the body politic, of water, of work. These relationships inform my practise as I ask what else has come from the hills, what myths and legends surround the health, education, and labour of the body politic. I follow the movement of lost rivers and springs; lichens, ancient monuments, parasitic wasps; walking back and forth between each site and the archive. Silk, wool, dyestuffs and their historical trade are linked to enclosure and the materiality of colonialism and borders. Textile and text lets me grasp the rules at play, untwisting language and pattern to understand how it works.
